Love your logo! So cute. I used to have a bulldog called Titan. He died of old age a few months back. He was my best mate. NCR pads

Lisa, I have the exact same issue. Only the most recent post shows up. Does anyone know how to fix this?

hello

Posted by LisaJune 16, 2011 - 04:15 am
following on from my previous posts...I changed the post file info in the admin section to reflect the actual path ie /guestbook/posts/posts.txt and this now shows 1 post in the guestbook however this gets overwritten by the next post so there's only ever 1 post showing?

Hi!!

Posted by LisaJune 13, 2011 - 04:04 am
Jodi my post.txt file is in the following directory;
/guestbook/posts/posts.txt
Do I need to move it outside the posts folder maybe?

Posted by LisaJune 13, 2011 - 03:46 am
Hi Jodi...no I still haven't resolved my issue can you explain what you did a little more what do you mean by "I needed to change the directory in the admin panel to where my post.txt file was located" thanks :)

Posted by JodiJune 12, 2011 - 02:35 amJodi@digitalpath.net
Ok. So, I finally get posts to show up on my guestbook. However, only one post at a time will show up and it is set to show 15 at a time. Any solutions?

Posted by JodiJune 12, 2011 - 02:15 amJodi@digitalpath.net
Lisa, I just solved my issue. I needed to change the directory in the admin panel to where my post.txt file was located. And in order to do that the permissions have to be set right. I had tried to change it a few times and it didn't work. Then I went in and changed all my permissions and it's working now.

Lisa,
Did you get your issue solved? I too am having the same issue and I'm also with GoDaddy. All permissions are set correctly. Posts show up in Admin panel but not on Guestbook page. Everything else is working correctly. Don't know what else to do. Anyone else solve this issue?

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:52 pm
You too Lisa, keep me posted

Posted by LisaJune 11, 2011 - 02:51 pm
Thank you for your patience! I will contact them and let you know if that solves the problem. Have good weekend :)

I would try to contact your host about this. Your problem is that the script cannot write to files with a 666 permission. This is unusual. Maybe correcting the ownership of the files could be a solution. Check your posts.txt file in the posts folder. This is a file the script can write to for sure. Which is the permission and ownership of this file? Can you replicate the same ownership and permission on the conf file and the guestbook file?
Sorry you are having these issues.

Posted by LisaJune 11, 2011 - 02:47 pm
Sorry just found it its Linux..

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:44 pm
Lisa it would appear that a 666 permission under your server setup is not enough to grant a write permission to the script. The configuration file and guestbook file could suffer this saame issue, the scripot cannot write to them. If you are on a windows server, then this could be the real issue. You could try a 777 premission instead of 666, or try to ask your host if they have any suggestion on how to set your permissions right. Definitely a permission issue here.

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:40 pm
Lisa sure, I have seen your setup. Have a look at my comments on your host/server, any chance this helps? Windows or linux?

Posted by LisaJune 11, 2011 - 02:38 pm
oops forgot to say I'm only using the default guestbook page for now to test it out so haven't altered any of the layout?

Posted by LisaJune 11, 2011 - 02:35 pm
..there are no comments in the source code but they are on the server!

Posted by LisaJune 11, 2011 - 02:32 pm
Andrea you're right about the changes to the configuration file I couldn't do that so changed it in dreamweaver instead...really sorry I forgot I did that does that point to something else?

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:18 pm
I have seen some hosts, like godaddy windows hosting, that no matter what, will make it impossible to make the page writable. The solution in one such case was to migrate to a godaddy linux account. Not sure if this could apply to your case

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:16 pm
Lisa are you on a linux server or windows server?

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:14 pm
Strangely enough it appears I am unable to save a configuration change in your admin. However you did make changes and saved obviously. Not sure what is going on here.

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:08 pm
All looks OK. If you weren't so sure I would say the permission of the guestbook page is not 666. You are positive that this is the case? what about changing it to something else and then back to 666 just to be on the safe side. You did not touch the code correct?

Posted by AndreaJune 11, 2011 - 02:02 pm
Lisa any chance this is an html problem? Did you look at your guestbook source code to see if the messages are there but maybe do not show beacuse that are in the wrong place in your html layout? Does your page includes the comments start and comments end lines? What if you temporarily swap your guestbook, html page with the default one provided in the zip, double check permission and try again?
